The VPG MV-1, a bespoke car specifically designed to shuttle disabled people. Had a ramp that rolled out from under the floor- very cool.

My county’s aging program has a few MV-1s running around my area, I think they replaced Dodge minivan wheelchair conversions.

I had one of those as a taxi from O’Hare a few years ago. Surprisingly smooth ride and extremely roomy inside, especially without a wheelchair. If you could get one with a front passenger seat, I could rock it.

You can - I chatted with an MV-1 dealer at the New England Auto Show last year. You’ll have to do the driver side aftermarket, though.

I knew it was something they were considering, but didn’t realize they had come out with it yet, since it involved reengineering the dash to accept a passenger airbag.

There’s one of these in my town. Private owner (I believe single mom with a disabled son) no less!

They are very odd to look at.

I’ve always wondered how many of these they’ve sold. I don’t see them often, but I’ve seen around a dozen over the years. Always though it was a great idea, but seems like a hard sell versus a converted minivan.

Yeah, I’ve seen them running in Akron’s Metro system once or twice. This one was in Dayton.

There are quite a few in the town I work in but, the Mayo Clinic is also here so it makes sense.
